Normal maintenance activities continued this week at the Bristol Quarry Landfill including evaluating systems and making minor adjustments to ensure efficient operation of the gas wells and the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System (SOMS). Regular monitoring of the blower, flare, and wellfield, along with breaking down, cleaning, and rebuilding pumps are also routine maintenance tasks carried out by staff on a weekly basis. Additionally, the wet weather this week required pumping rainfall accumulation off the landfill surface. Finally, installation of a new air compressor system has begun. This is an upgrade of the current system which provides air pressure to operate the pneumatic pumps to remove liquids from the dual phase extraction wells.
