Systems at the Bristol Quarry Landfill performed exceptionally well as the remnants of Hurricane Helene moved through Virginia. While minor erosion occurred naturally due to the more than 7 inches of rain we received, the landfill’s stormwater conveyances functioned as designed. Our ability to manage such a significant storm is testament to the engineering, maintenance, and operational efforts at the facility. Additionally, installation of new air compressors is nearly complete, with function testing scheduled next week prior to placing them into service. Regular maintenance activities included monitoring of the blower, flare, and wellfield; and breaking down, cleaning, and repairing pumps.
