Due to the cold temperatures, field staff at the Bristol Quary Landfill have conducted winterization activities to prevent frozen lines and other weather-related operational challenges. At the same time, normal maintenance activities have continued, including pump replacements, well-field readings, and sampling.
A gasket in the benzene treatment system failed this week, which caused the compressor to stop working and resulted in some leaks inside the system. A new larger compressor was purchased and installed, and crews are working to reinstall the gasket while the leaks are being addressed with assistance from the system manufacturer.
