Landfill Notifications and Information

Crews continue to work at the Quarry Landfill installing flow meters dedicated to monitoring landfill liquids and stormwater. Crews also continued fine-tuning the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System (SOMS) to maximize landfill gas extraction. At the adjacent, older landfill site, installation of the air, force main, and gas collection piping is progressing. As noted last week, we anticipate neighbors may continue to experience odor resulting from the change in seasons from warmer to colder weather. This type of periodic fluctuation is not unexpected as we move forward with the extensive remediation work at the landfill. Engineers are currently reinforcing the lining in key places along the sidewall.
